Itinerary

Toubkal Circuit Treks

Get ready for a week in nature! After breakfast, a driver picks you up from your hotel in Marrakech and brings you to the Imlil Valley. This is a place attracting lots of trekkers that will summit Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in Morocco. We meet with your guide and muleteer. Once all equipment is loaded, we start our hike along the valley towards Tacheddirt, a village about 8 km from Imlil. To get our legs ready for the coming days, we start climbing already at the beginning of the trail. We hike over the pass of Tizi N’Tamatert and descend again to the beautiful village of Ouaneskra. From here, we continue to Tacheddirt, the Berber village, where we will spend the night. Here we usually camp near the river or sleep in a traditional Berber house.

Today’s hike will be shorter than the other days. Plenty of time to take our time and enjoy the stunning views along the way! The trail will bring us past various traditional Berber villages, stunning viewpoints of Morocco’s highest peaks, and the great Ifni Lake. The Ifni Lake offers an unforgettable sight, surrounded by rocky mountains and giant piles of rubble. Its opalescent green color brings an unexpected spot of color to the southern slope of Toubkal. As we have an afternoon of rest, you can either swim in the lake or enjoy nature at our campsite.

Toubkal Circuit Treks

Today we will start hiking early: a long but amazing day ahead!
We will depart from the Ifni Lake to the mountain called Tizi N’Ouanoums. We climb to the top via a gorge that, in some places, can be quite narrow. Throughout the climb, we will have a view of the Ifni Lake. As the lake gets smaller and smaller, we will see the progress we are making in our hike to the top.
The peak of Tizi N’Ouanoums is a narrow rim between 2 rocks. A spectacular landscape as a reward for the climb! After we enjoyed the views, we had a long zigzaggy descent to the refuge of Mount Toubkal. Here stay, a lot of people will summit Morocco’s highest peak. The night we can either spend the time in the refuge or camp in the surrounding nature.

6 hours
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Overnight in the Refuge.

Toubkal Treks

During the hike, we’ll conquer Morocco’s highest peak step by step. If the conditions are good, it should not take more than 2-3 hours to reach the summit. The climb is steady, without technical difficulty, on an easy stone path. We’ll summit and enjoy the stunning views from the top of the mountain. All the way from the plains of Haouz in the north, the Ifni Lake, and the endless horizon towards Ouarzazate and the desert. The descent is about 5 hours and leads us past the Marabou called Sidi Chamharouch. The descent is made by the same route and, from the refuge, after lunch, return to Imlil. The driver is waiting in the village to return to Marrakech and drop you at your accommodation late afternoon. 8 hours of walking.
